ORIGINS
Sri Lanka has been a popular tourist destination for some time now. Any trip there and you'll find Kottu Roti vendors at every street corner, on a massive griddle cooking up dinner for half a dozen tuk-tuk drivers at a time.
Although we have seen lots of Sri Lankan restaurants appear in the UK over the last decade, they offer food that would be more typical of 5* Colombo hotels than the true Sri Lankan experience.
Kamala aims to provide an authentic experience of Sri Lankan food. Cooked in front of you, with an added emphasis on high-quality produce.
THE NAME
In so many cultures around the world, recipes and cooking techniques are passed down from mothers and grandmothers to their children. Sri Lankans are no exception. The core practices of how our dishes are prepared, are those which were passed down from our nan, Kamala.
It seemed only right to serve food in her name.
